Abolish Death Penalty -- Washington's Catholic Bishops

The state's five Catholic bishops are supporting legislation in Olympia that would abolish the death penalty, already on its last legs after being ruled unconstitutional last fall by the Washington State Supreme Court.
A bipartisan measure, SB 553, would remove capital punishment language that was ruled unconstitutional and would institute the penalty of life in prison without possibility of parole for those convicted of aggravated first decree murder.
